Event Photography at the Jumpstart Playground Grand Opening – Boulevard Lake, Thunder Bay

I had the opportunity to provide event photography in Thunder Bay for the highly anticipated grand opening of the Jumpstart Playground at Boulevard Lake—an inclusive and accessible play space created to support children of all abilities.

Commissioned by Jumpstart Charities, this inspiring community event brought together local families, city officials, and supporters for a joyful celebration of connection and play. My role was to capture the full story: from the emotional opening ceremony, where an Indigenous Elder offered a blessing over the new space, to the heartfelt speech by Acting Mayor Brian Hamilton, and of course, the vibrant energy of hundreds of kids experiencing the playground for the very first time.

As an event photographer in Thunder Bay, I focus on preserving both the big picture and the small moments—candid expressions, emotional interactions, and the atmosphere that makes each event unique. This event was filled with laughter, learning, and legacy, and I’m honoured to help document it for Jumpstart’s community outreach and future promotion.
